Glutinous Rice Ball recipe also known as tang yuan is a rice ball dessert that we like to eat as a way to bring everyone to the dinner table. There’s nothing more fulfilling than having a hot dessert recipe after a good meal.

INGREDIENTS

  • 400g Glutinous Rice Ball 
  • 10g ginger (slices)
  • 110g cane sugar
  • 4 cups water

This rice ball dessert wishes each family to always stay together and be intact. 

INSTRUCTIONS:

First, use a knife to crush the cane sugar to allow it to easily melt. Next, boil 3 cups of water, then add ginger and cane sugar on low heat until the cane sugar is melted.

Then, add rice balls and switch to high heat. Add one more cup of water after it boils. Later, turn on medium heat after boiling. Once the rice balls float, the dessert is cooked and ready.

This is usually eaten on the second day of Chinese New Year that bring the family together at the end of the night. The best classic asian dessert for your Chinese New Year meal !

TIPS

  • When the rice balls float, it means it is cooked.
  • To avoid the rice balls sticking to the pot, you have to stir occasionally.
