Orzo Pasta with Anchovies Recipe ( 鯷魚米粒形意粉 )

A little twist to your fried rice recipe! Perfect for your next big Christmas party ! Pasta in the shape of rice form? HEll yes 🙂 Guys it has such a funny texture and it would the talk of the dinner !

INGREDIENTS:

  • 340g orzo
  • 450g chicken breast
  • 6 anchovies 
  • Half canned corn
  • 140g broccoli
  • 1 garlic
  • 2 green onion
  • 1000 ml boiling water
  • 2 slices (cut into strips)  ginger

Marinade for chicken breast:

  • 2 tbsp ginger juice
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oil

INSTRUCTIONS:

Wash chicken breasts and dry them out. Cut them into pieces and marinade for at least  20 minutes.

Wash broccoli and cut into pieces.

Dry out canned corn.

Wash green onion and cut into pieces.

Cut anchovies into small pieces.

Cut garlic into slices. Fry the garlic with 3 tbsp of oil on slow heat until it turns golden. Let them cool.

Use the rest of oil in the same wok to fry chicken breast. Add the broccoli and canned corn and fry them evenly. Put aside.

Fry the ginger and anchovies with 1 tsp of oil on slow heat slightly for about 5 seconds. Then put the orzo and 500 ml of boiling water evenly. Put the lid on for 2 minutes or when the orzo absorbs all the water, then add another 500 ml of boiling water. Put the lid on again for about 5 minutes.

When most of the water evaporates, add the chicken breast, broccoli, canned corn and green onion. Do a taste test, add salt and cooked garlic. Serve.

TIPS

  • The amount of water depends on your preference of whether you al dente or soft
  • Adding the cooked garlic last will ensure the crispness texture
